Hello!
My name is Julia and I’m a potter and artist living in Vancouver BC. I’m also the big cheese at Summer Skool, a small studio that provides classes and workshops in ceramics throughout the year.
A decade + years ago I took a pottery class and have been going pedal-to-the-metal style ever since. I’m self taught, aside from a few classes and workshops I’ve taken. I’ve done residencies at Alfred University, Alfred, New York and Medalta in Medicine Hat, Alberta. Because I live in the city and have an electric kiln, most of my work is fired in oxidation, but I’ll always jump on the chance to fire in a reduction kiln whenever I can because I LOVE the process and the results. Besides clay stuff, I’m also interested in plants and herbalism, astrology, ST:TNG, mycology, drawing and water colour painting and music and these influences wiggle their way into my work.
